CROWNS & BRIDGES

Crowns are a cap used to cover over a tooth that may be broken or decayed to strengthen or improve the cosmetic appearance of the tooth. Crowning is a popular procedure available at our Centre

Types of dental crowns

1) Ceramic crowns look like normal teeth and are ideal for use on the front teeth.

2) Porcelain crowns are composed of porcelain fused to metal.

3) Metal Crowns- Metal crowns are ideal for use on the back teeth.

Depending on the condition of the tooth, a root canal may be necessary before placing a dental crown on the tooth.

The dentist will then file the tooth down to make room for the crown. An impression of the tooth and the surrounding teeth will then be made to create a crown. An acrylic crown will be put on the tooth in the meantime. The permanent crown is put in place during a follow up visit.

A dental Bridge is an appliance used to fill a gap from a missing tooth. You can greatly enhance the appearance of your teeth and get a beautiful smile with dental bridging at Dr Nadia’s Clinic..

The dentist begins bridgework by filing down the teeth to accommodate the crowns.

Impressions of the teeth are made to create the dental crowns. The false tooth (or teeth) will then be bonded to the crowns. The bridge will be put in place during a follow up visit.

ROOT CANAL TREATMENT

Root canal treatments are procedures designed to save teeth damaged by injury and/ or severe tooth decay (cavities). The procedure may also be called root canal therapy or Endodontic treatment.
Root canal treatment involves removing diseased pulp (soft tissue inside the tooth)and usually crown placement.

One or more root canals are found inside every tooth. Each canal contains pulp, often referred to as the nerve center of the tooth. Pulp actually consists of nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue. When that pulp is damaged by deep cavities or a fractured or cracked tooth, it can cause severe pain (toothache) and a root canal treatment may be needed

There are multiple steps in a root canal treatment. The basic procedure involves drilling into the top or back of the tooth, removing all or part of the pulp (pulpectomy), replacing it with a rubber-like material and putting an artificial crown (cap) over the tooth to strengthen it. Patients may be given either a local or general anesthetic.

Root canal treatment may be performed on only one root or in more than one root in the same tooth. Depending on their type and location in the mouth, teeth can have up to four root canals per tooth.

DENTAL IMPLANTS

Implants are a strong, attractive option for fixing a tooth. An anchor is placed in the patient's jaw and a realistic restoration is built around it. Get rid of your gaps forever with dental implants at our Centre
Implants are inserted under local anesthetic. The dentist makes an incision in the gums and holes in the bone for the implants to be fixed into.
After fitting the implants, the gums are closed with stitches.Once the bone has grown around the dental implants, the artificial teeth are added and any necessary bridges or dentures can be fitted.
